NFL Updates

More things that stand out in today’s NFL action:

-The Broncos and Chargers did their respective things today: Broncos won, Chargers lost. Seven wins in a row for the Broncos, no team is hotter at the moment. The AFC West Division is now on lock, and the lowly Chargers fell to 4-8. I love it. Norv Turner is just waiting to get fired; who will get replaced first- him, or David Akers? Akers cost the 49ers a win today. If only they tied again, that would have been awesome…would’ve been the first time since 1963 that two teams tied each other twice in one season.

-Mark Sanchez finally got benched. Only thing is, Tim Tebow was inactive. Rex Ryan finally did what he should have done a long time ago, and they won! 7-6 Jets over the Cardinals, possibly the worst game of the year. Is Greg McElroy going to start next week? The Jets defense probably hopes so.

-Rookie QB’s are shredding opposing defenses right now. Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck both orchestrated game winning drives in the 4th/OT, and put up huge yards. RG3 shredded the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, if he can do it against the defending champs tomorrow night he could lock up Rookie of the Year.

-Adrian Peterson is doing his best to prove he is the best running back in the league. Forget Comeback Player of the Year, he is going straight for MVP. He ran 210 yards today, and the Vikings would have won if it weren’t for Christian Ponder. Christian… why would you even ponder passing?! He was one of the handful of QB’s who completed less than 50 percent of their passes, pathetic.

-The Cowboys take on the Eagles again tonight, and this game looked a lot better in September than it does now. Both teams suck, and they probably won’t be factors in January. Regardless, look for the Cowboys to win, 24-14.

  1. I would have to say that Andrew Luck has the Rookie of the Year pretty much locked up already. I know RG3 and Russell Wilson have really good numbers for rookies too, but Andrew Luck and the Colts are 8-4. That, to me, means he’s already got that award in the bag.

  2. You can’t blame the Niners loss on Akers – it was a 51 yard attempt. There were plenty of other problems – bad play calling – particularly the pitch to Ginn, inconsistent running attack (other than Kaepernick), and out coached by the Rams – Kaepernick didn’t look comfortable with Ram pressure. And they still have to play at NE and Seattle.

  3. I am getting bored with you always ripping the Chargers – they are not relevant. Focus on playoff-relevant teams/games. The Broncos shouldn’t look past the Raiders on Thursday (thinking about the Ravens).
