Penthouse Sports

We have yet to make a “whats hot/ whats not” article here at the Penthouse, so I figured I’d give it a go. Here are six things that are either hot, or not:

Hot- The Irish.

Notre Dame is on fire right now. The entire nation is focusing on the Irish, as they are going to play for their first national championship in nearly 25 years. They have as much tradition as any school in College Football history, and are back on top. To add to this, the Irish basketball team is also making some noise. Mike Brey has the boys knocking on the door of the top 25 and another successful run in the Big East. They dominated #8 Kentucky last night, improving to 7-1 on the season.

Not- The Wildcats.

Kentucky hoops lost another game last night, falling to 4-2 on the year. This normally would not be a big deal, but for Coach Cal and the defending champs it is a bit of a surprise. Kentucky fans shouldn’t worry about their basketball team, they should worry about their football team. The Wildcat’s season is over now, finishing with an 2-10 record, 0-8 in conference. Solid.

Hot- My teams.

Two of my favorite teams, the Denver Broncos and the Duke Blue Devils, are currently “en fuego”. The Broncos are now 8-3, winners of six games in a row, and can wrap up the division in Week 13 with a win against the Buccaneers this weekend.  Peyton looks to be on his way to a fifth MVP award. The Blue Devils are equally hot, if not hotter. The Blue Devils are undefeated, and should be ranked #1 in next weeks poll. They now have three wins against top 5 teams in three weeks, possibly the most impressive start to a season, ever. I have been a die-hard fan for all my teams since I was 5, I don’t hop bandwagons; nothing is better than seeing your favorite team’s succeed. Let’s not bring up the Sac-Town Kings…

Not- My Fantasy Team.

My fantasy football team SUCKS. This week is the last game of the regular season, and my team is decimated. Half of my draft picks have been consistently hurt, and the other half has been consistently terrible. The only hope I have had all season has been in the hands of Drew Brees; he is the only player who I can rely on. That was until last night, when he decided to join the party and SUCK as well. Five picks? Drew, who do you think you are… Matt Ryan? I guess so, except he got rocked by Ryan last night. Don’t think the Falcons proved themselves last night, I’m still not buying them.

Hot- Erin Andrews.

I have said many times before, and you may disagree with me, but I think Erin Andrews is one of the hottest women on television. She may not be the best sports reporter (or know a damn thing about sports), but I love it when FOX shows her on the screen. Tell me which woman on sports is better looking than her.

Not- Every other woman sports reporter.

I do not understand why some women sports reporters have a job with the sports industry. Not only do they not know what they are talking about, viewers do not want to hear them talk about their respective teams. Just a few things that stand out: What is up with Pam Oliver’s hair? I didn’t know vibrant red was in right now. Why does Shelly Smith cover the Lakers? The Lakers are the most covered team in the NBA, so they should get someone good to report on them. Instead, ESPN sends a middle-aged woman who looks like she could be a kindergarten teacher or that aunt of yours that makes really good casserole. Lastly, Mary Carillo. I do not watch very much tennis, but when I do, I always seem to hear her voice. She also covered the Olympics, so we could hear her deep voice talk about women’s sports. Bobby Costas looks scared whenever he is in the Studio with her.
